Imperfectly Beautiful!

The Nesting Place is having a imperfect blog party. Did someone say PARTY? Okay, I'm in. Here is my imperfectly beautiful space, the play room and/or fun room. It's where we watch movies, play video games and recently played Scene It. I know what needs to be done to this space but it requires knocking out a wall. So it's going to stay for awhile.

Here is a great example of imperfectly beautiful! I just snapped this pic of Zachary combing his hair and then checking it out. That is a beautiful hair-do little man!

Last but not least is my bed. I hate to admit I'm "one of those that make their bed everyday" people. But lately it does me NO GOOD. Pesky little creatures.

I feel relieved now that I've shared my imperfectly beautiful spaces. Good idea Nesting Place!

Arizona Summer Flowers...

Those of us that live in the low desert know how hard it is to find beautiful flowers that will grow through out the summer. I have found a few that will last (as long as I sing to them) through the summer.

Portulaca, is probably the hardiest in the low desert and will spread like ground cover. They love the sun.

Celosia is also very hardy and loves the sun. They come in multiple colors. However, I love the type called China Town or New Look because of their leaves. They start out red and green and turn a dark purple by mid summer.

Periwinkle or Vinca is the favorite summer flower in the low desert. I have better luck with them in part sun. They come in many shades of pink, purple and white.

This year I planted the Celosia 'New Look' with Vinca's and love how the white looks with the red.

Make sure you keep the soil wet after you plant them for about a week. Feed them every couple of weeks and don't forget to sing to them. ;-)

Fablehaven

If anyone out there is interested in summer reading, I have the books for you! I love the Harry Potter books and The Spiderwick Chronicles so when I saw these at Costco I grabbed the first one. Well I couldn't put it down so the next day I rushed back to Costco, 15 minutes before they shut the doors, to grab the next two in the series. I even cut someone off, they gave me the finger, to get there fast enough. I guess I'm a fantasy book junkie. (the fairy, dragons and goblin kind of fantasy-not what your thinking!) I guarantee you will love these books. I even have my 8 year old interested. Yes, he put down the xbox controller and IS reading them.

The website is also full of games and whatnot.

Proof that 2 hours of dialing WORKS!

All because of my great dialing skills he WON. I'm so happy. HE can thank me anytime now. I know, your probably saying that he couldn't have won just because of little'ol ME. Oh contrar! I must of dialed a million times. I knew the teens were dialing for Archuleta, millions of them, MILLIONS I say. The competition was fierce. I had to dial fast and furious. It was time consuming. The kids didn't get their bath and the dishes sat in the sink but it was well worth it.
